Following the 2008 financial crisis, the introduction and fast development of electronic currencies has attracted a lot of attention. Some investors, including Warren Buffet, believe that cryptocurrencies are not viable assets and ultimately, they will disappear, while others believe that cryptocurrencies are the future form of currencies or assets which may replace the fiat money. In the meantime, we have seen the huge increase in number of cryptocurrencies as well as participation of small and large investors such as hedge funds, banks and other financial institutions in investing and trading cryptocurrencies. However, trading methods, pricing, volatility, and security of the cryptocurrencies as well as issues around decentralized and deregulated market for these currencies have been hot topics for debate and research amongst investors and academics alike.
I am pleased to announce that faculty of finance has invited the founders of the cryptocurrency indexing and trading, Trakx.io (https://www.trakx.io/landing), Mr Laurent Barocas, Mr Lionel Rebibo and Mr Jean-Marc Bonnefous along with the school alumnus Mr Aaron Malik, to deliver a webinar on crypto currencies (please see speakers’ bio below).
